The Uncensored Keyboard

Censorship on social media increases every year. These platforms, owned by private companies, are not bound by freedom of speech—giving them the power to decide what is acceptable to talk about. As a result, certain words are banned, and using them can lead to content removal or users being shadowbanned, ultimately silencing young people and literally stripping them of their own language. To counter this, The Uncensored Keyboard is a tool designed for Gen Z to bypass censorship algorithms. This keyboard, which can be added to a phone’s keyboard list, gathers code words and emojis commonly used by young people when discussing sensitive topics online. As you type, the keyboard flags restricted words and suggests alternatives that won’t be censored.
